Trading 212 is an investment app where UK investors can buy stocks and ETFs, including fractional shares, without paying commission. Other fees may apply. See the terms and fees. It is often picked as one of the best trading platforms for beginners.

New clients who open an account with the promo code FINTECH and fund it get one free fractional share worth between £8 and £100. Below we explain each step, how much the share is usually worth and when you can withdraw it.

Sponsored code. To get a free fractional share worth up to £100, you can open an account with Trading 212 using the code FINTECH or this link. Terms apply. When investing, your capital is at risk and you may get back less than invested. Past performance doesn’t guarantee future results.

How to get a Trading 212 free share

To qualify for the free share, complete these five steps.

1. Sign up

Open an Invest account, a Stocks and Shares ISA or a SIPP in the Trading 212 app or on the Trading 212 website. Cash ISA and CFD accounts are excluded from the promotion. If you join with a SIPP, the reward is paid into an Invest account, because Trading 212 never places it in the pension.

2. Enter the promo code FINTECH

If you did not sign up through a promo link, you can still enter the code in the app within 10 calendar days of opening the account:

  1. Tap the menu (≡) in your account.
  2. Select “Use promo code” and type FINTECH.
  3. Apply the code.

Trading 212 promo code FINTECH

You can use only one promo code across your Invest, ISA and SIPP accounts. A promo link and a promo code cannot be combined either.

3. Verify your identity

Trading 212 only pays the reward once your account is fully onboarded and verified. During sign-up the app asks for your personal details and proof of identity, so have your ID document at hand.

4. Make your first deposit

Fund the account with at least the minimum deposit set for the promotion, within 10 calendar days of opening it. The amount is shown in the promotion details in the app.

If the share is placed in a Stocks and Shares ISA, its value counts towards your £20,000 annual ISA allowance.

5. Receive your free share

Trading 212 places the share within 3 business days after you meet all the requirements. UK clients with both an Invest account and a Stocks and Shares ISA receive it in the account where they first met the requirements.

The full rules are in the Trading 212 Promo Code Terms.

How much is the Trading 212 free share worth?

Trading 212 picks the share at random, and higher values are less likely. The odds published by Trading 212 are:

Probability Share value
80% 8.00 to 25.00
15% 25.01 to 50.00
3% 50.01 to 75.00
2% 75.01 to 100.00

Values in your account currency. Source: Trading 212 Help Centre, October 2026.

In practice, 4 in 5 new clients get a share worth £25 or less. Only 1 in 50 gets one worth more than £75.

Who can use the Trading 212 promo code?

The promotion is for new clients only. You are not eligible if you have ever held an Invest account or a Stocks and Shares ISA with any Trading 212 company, even one you have since closed. Stocks and Shares ISAs and SIPPs are only available to UK residents. Trading 212 employees and their relatives are also excluded.

Is it possible to earn more than one free share?

Yes, but not with promo codes, since each client can use only one. The extra shares come from the Invite a Friend campaign. If Trading 212 has sent you an invite link, you and each friend who opens and funds an account get a free fractional share, up to 5 per campaign.

Trading 212 sends these links to a limited number of clients, so not everyone has one. The current campaign runs from 21 September to 3 November 2026. You can check yours in the app under ≡ and then “Invite friends”. See the Invite a Friend page for the details.

When can I withdraw my free share?

You can keep the free share or sell it at any time, even on the day you receive it. However, its cash value can only be withdrawn 30 calendar days after it lands in your account. This lock-up does not affect your other assets, and your own deposit can be withdrawn at any time.

Trading 212 can take the reward back if you close your account within 7 calendar days of receiving it. The same applies if you don’t log in for 3 consecutive months after receiving it.

Are there other brokerage sign-up bonuses in the UK?

Yes. Here are some of the offers available to UK investors:
