How to use the Bulb energy referral code?
Bulb Energy is currently offering a refer a friend bonus of up to £50 when you join. All you need to do is sign up via my referral code here. We will both earn £50 when you switch your electricity and gas over to Bulb Energy, or £25 if you just switch electricity or gas. That’s a sweet deal if you ask me!
Why did I join Bulb?
I recently moved home and decided to do my annual comparison of various utility bills to save some money. Most bills were routine and there wasn’t any room for huge savings.
Water supply is a monopoly, so there’s no choice of really changing provider to save money.
Broadband prices range from £25 to £40 per month for a decent fibre connection.
A mobile phone sim only plan falls in a tight band ranging between £8 to £12 per month. That gets you all the data, minutes and texts a millennial could possibly wish for.
Utility bills are a different story. I hadn’t realised how much gas and electricity prices range wildly from provider to provider!
Energy provider price comparison
I found that Bulb energy and Octopus energy consistently came out as being the cheapest amongst the many different providers. The “Big Six” energy providers (Centrica, EON, SSE, Npower, EDF and ScottishPower seemed expensive in comparison.
What makes Bulb different?
What made Bulb stand out from the pack was the fact that they supply energy from 100% renewable sources such as solar, wind and hydro. As I get older, I begin to appreciate the impact we as humans are having on our environment. If we are going to maintain a planet worth living in then we need to make greener decisions where possible.
Excellent customer service
Both Bulb and Octopus were rated as Excellent on Trustpilot. I found this surprising as normally the smaller, lesser-known providers tend to have lower customer satisfaction scores – especially so when it comes to broadband.
Since joining, I’ve been blown away with Bulb’s customer service as any questions I had were swiftly answered using the chat function found on the website. They also have a call centre for those that prefer to speak to someone in person.
Anecdotally, one of my best friends who is also a Bulb customer rang up with a query and as it took longer than ten minutes for someone to deal with his call – Bulb instantly credited him with £10 worth of credit for the inconvenience. This makes a refreshing change in today’s modern era. Most call centres don’t care how long you’ve been on hold and seem to send you around in circles deliberately until you give up the will to live!
How to switch to Bulb Energy?
Switching to Bulb is really simple as they do all the heavy lifting for you. All you need to do is send your meter reading. They will contact your existing supplier to let them know you’re leaving and never cut off you to ensure a smooth transition and continuous power supply.
They also help you out financially by refunding any exit fees with your existing supplier (if applicable) and you can earn yourself £50 credit straight away by using my referral code here.
Is Bulb Energy any good?
If you are shopping around and looking to move energy suppliers then I highly recommend Bulb. They offer cheap, renewable energy, a hassle-free switching process and excellent customer service. With winter approaching and everyone still stuck at home, there’s never been a better time to switch and save on those energy bills.

Make money signing up friends and family to Bulb
There’s no limit to the number of people you can refer as long as they are brand new to Bulb customers.
My friend Richard, has referred 16 people to date and earned £1,125. That pretty much covers his gas and electricity costs for the next two years!
Not bad at all, imagine not having to spend a single penny on energy costs each year and having that money to work for you instead.
I will be reinvesting any savings I make directly into my portfolio of investments.
